MakerSpace

What is a MakerSpace?
Our MakerSpace is about teaching children to think for themselves, to think creatively, and to look for do-it-yourself solutions. It’s a space where everyone has the opportunity to make – a place where curiosity and wonder come together with hands-on exploration.

The simple answer is you use your imagination to make things! Guests work in our MakerSpace to create, invent, tinker, explore and discover using a variety of tools and materials. The informal, playful atmosphere allows learning to unfold, building understanding in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math and more. Our MakerSpace encourages creativity and wonder… inspiring the idea that anything is possible, when you put your mind to it!

How can I support my child’s learning?

Parents should be encouraged to participate, as mentors, managers, space hosts or as general volunteers willing to support the MakerSpace in whatever ways are necessary. Our challenge is to train the children of today for the unknown world of tomorrow. It is crucial to develop timeless skills such as curiosity, creativity, and the ability to learn on one’s own. These are precisely the skills that are honed in our MakerSpace.

THE MAKER METHOD – PLAN, MAKE, PLAY, REPEAT

PLAN – Think, Hypothesize, Design

MAKE – Create, Develop, Construct
